We are sad to announce that we have lost a very dear member of our Calvert Well Pet family, Mabel Grau.
Mabel had been a vivacious volunteer for the clinic since its inception, and she will be terribly missed. If you look around the clinic, you will find many mementos of her handiwork and contributions. Mabel was never asked to do anything—she simply saw a need and would return the following week with her creations in hand.
From table covers, equipment covers, surgery light covers, and cage pads, to custom facial masks and Christmas ornaments, everything she made was created with love and with the simple desire to make our lives a little easier at the clinic. She never wanted a fuss made over her hard work. She simply enjoyed seeing her handiwork being put to good use.
Mabel was also incredibly thoughtful when it came to the people at the clinic. She was always bringing little trinkets, goodies, and treats for everyone. Everything Mabel made was delicious, and many of her sweet treats became favorites—and even found their way onto employees' birthday wish lists! She would also randomly prepare a feast for our busy workdays, and everyone would grab a bite whenever they could. Some of the employees' favorites included apple cider cake, white chicken chili, Boston crème pie cake, and angel food cake with strawberry sherbet. We all felt spoiled by her love and generosity.
Mabel had a heart of gold and the purest soul. That love extended not only to everyone here at the clinic, but to our four-legged loved ones as well. If a pet was lucky enough to call Mabel's lap home, they were given the best possible life she could provide.
Mabel's kindness, generosity, creativity, and love touched so many lives. Her presence will always be a part of Calvert Well Pet Clinic, and the many things she created and the memories she left behind will remind us of her for years to come.
We will miss you, Mabel. Thank you for loving our clinic, our people, and our four-legged friends so very well. ❤️
The Clinic will be closed Wednesday, September 9th so that our staff may attend Mabel's services.
